What We Believe

At Rideau Christian Fellowship, we believe

…That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is sufficient and authoritative in all matters of faith and practices. 1

…That there is one God 2, eternally existing in three distinct and equal Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit 3. That He is eternal 4, all knowing 5, all powerful 6 and everywhere present 7. He is Holy 8. He is love 9. He is just 10.

…That Jesus Christ is fully man and fully God 11. That He was born of the virgin Mary 12, lived a perfect life 13, died a sacrificial death 14, and rose from the dead 15. That He ascended into Heaven 16 and is now seated at the right hand of God 17.

…That humanity was created in the image of God 18, but that through Adam and Eve’s disobedience and our own, we are sinners in nature and in deed and that each of us needs to be saved from sin and its consequences 19.

…That all of humanity must be saved by the grace of God, through faith in Christ alone and by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit 20. As this salvation rests on God alone, there is nothing that anyone (including ourselves) can do to take it away from us 21.

…That the Holy Spirit comes to live within every believer, setting them apart for God, gifting them for ministry and producing new life characterized by the fruit of the Spirit 22.

…That every Christian is a part of the body of Christ, a child in the family of God, a priest in His Kingdom and a member of His church 23. Accordingly, we gather with Christians in our time and place to worship, pray, teach the Bible and remember Jesus in the Lord’s Supper 24. And that we are baptized, declaring outwardly the inward reality of what God has done in our hearts 25.

…That Jesus will return to make all things new. The dead will be raised – those who have trusted in Jesus will be with Him forever and those who have rejected Him will be separated from the Source of Life in judgment. Sin and its consequences will be ended once and for all 26.

…That God created men and women as equal image bearers of God who have equal dignity and value 27. That men and women are gloriously different in many helpful and beautiful ways and are not fully interchangeable in their roles at home and at church. In the church, men are to serve in the office of elder and to teach the Bible. Women are to use their gifts to minister in the church, at home and in society 28.

…That marriage was designed by God as an enduring union between one man and one woman for partnership, pleasure and procreation. That God’s will for all people is chastity outside of marriage and faithfulness within it 29.
